ITSF at World Conference on Doping

From November 15th to 17th, 2007, Farid Lounas, ITSF President, will attend WADA’s World Conference on Doping in Sport. This is the third conference of its kind bringing together governments and the sports movement in the important fight against doping in sport.

The World Anti-Doping Agency was created in 1999, following the first World Conference on Doping in Sport. One of the most important tasks assigned to WADA by its constituent members following its creation was the mandate to develop the World Anti-Doping Code, a core document that provided for a framework for all anti-doping policies, rules, and regulations within sports organizations and among public authorities throughout the world. The Code entered into force on January 1st, 2004.

As you know, the ITSF’s Anti-Doping Code was accepted by WADA last July. ITSF is listed on their website as one of the WADA Code signatories.

As any living document, the Code requires regular review. A revised document was made available prior to the Conference. It will be discussed at the Madrid Conference.

At the Conference, WADA will also update attendees on its activities and achievements, as well as its approach towards the future.
