16 year old James Oates

James Oates will represent the UK at the 2007 World Championships in Saint-Vincent, Italy, on October 25-28.

He qualified by winning the Hereford Open Junior event, held in Hereford, England, on April 20-22.





The Junior category has been introduced for the first time this year in the ITSF World Rankings (Singles and Doubles).



The definition of age and cut-off date for birthday for Junior players are as follows:

- under 18 on the 1st of January 2007



The points allocated to these new categories in the Rankings are the same as the ones awarded in the Open and Women’s categories.






Qualification for the World Championships will take place as follows:



- The winner of each World Championship Series event in the Junior's Singles category will automatically qualify and will be entitled to a player’s package.




- The National Junior Champions (in Singles and Doubles) of each ITSF member federation is invited to take part in these Championships - there will be no travel package for these players.
